House of Delight is located in the Level 1, 206 Bourke Street (heart of China Town, Melbourn CBD).
As you know that the area is saturated with many Chinese restaurants, House of Delight is surely a tough competitors for other restaurants.
This restaurant stands out compared to others with their authentic Asian food specialising in Yum cha buffet, Chinese cuisines including Cantonese, Shanghai and Sichuan.
The restaurant is very spacious and it’s a versatile spot to have private function / parties and also perfect place to bring your family here.
We’re so delighted to be invited by House of Delight to have dine in experience in their restaurant.
It was a busy weekend when we came and as soon as we arrived, we’re welcomed by the friendly customer staffs at the front desk.
The service was quick and professional.
Both vibe and ambience were great and cosy.
To start off our food journey, we ordered pu-erh tea (herbal chinese tea).
Tea freshly served in traditional Chinese tea pot.
As a typical Yum Cha restaurant, there would be few moving trolleys with the fresh Yum Cha dishes and delicious smell.
We’re intriqued and keen to try some of the Yum Cha dishes.
– Salted Egg Custard Steamed Bun *Yumcha
The bun was perfectly steamed; the texture was soft and smooth from outside, fluffy from the inside.
We found that the filling was slightly bit watery and too sweet for salted egg custard, or else this salted egg custard bun would be perfect.
Honestly, the overall taste was still good and decent.
– Fried Sesame Balls with Glutinous Rice Flour and Red Bean *Yum cha
The sesame balls were perfectly deep fried, it was crunchy and crispy from outside.
The taste of red bean wasn’t too sweet which was really good and the amount of red bean filled inside the bun was just right, balance proportion.
This yum cha dish is always our favourite dish and House of Delight was successfully executed this dish in perfection.
– Fried Barramundi Fillet in Shanghai Style
The presentation was nice and very appealing, surely it would increase your appetite.
The Barramundi fish were perfectly deep fried and seasoned really well.
The skin of the fish was very crispy and the texture was silky smooth and the sauce was perfectly drizzled on top of the fish.
The fish was soft and tender from the inside.
The sauce wasn’t too strong either, so you could still enjoy the original flavour of the fish.
– Griddle Cooked Cauliflower with Pork Belly
The dish served with the hot stone bowl, so be careful!! don’t touch the stone.
You could smell the nice smokey fragrance coming from the dish.
The cauliflowers were still tender and not overcooked when served. The pork belly were perfectly cooked and seasoned well.
It’s a simple dish but well executed by House of Delight!
– Kungpao Prawn
The portion was very generous and the presentation was really appealing.
The size of the prawns served were generous and the quality was really good.
The prawns were very tender and succullent, perfectly cooked. The taste was very balance with little bit sweetness of their sauce coming from honey.
We reckoned the sauce was slightly too much therefore some parts weren’t crispy anymore when it was just served.
– Boiled Base Fillet with Pickle Vegetable
It was the highlight for today.
We’d really like their Boiled Base Fillet with Pickle Vegetable and apparently it is one of the most popular dishes in this restaurant.
The dish was generously served and perfect for sharing.
The fish was very soft, tender and not dry. They’re seasoned well and the taste was very balance.
It’s a perfect dish for a winter time with the soup base and other ingredients including the gingers added to the soup base.
Additional pickle vegetable added the rich taste to the overall soup.
Absolutely stunning dish and surely, it’s a recommended dish to order.
Overall, we had a great time and had good food from House of Delight.
This is the place that is perfect to bring your family because you won’t get any disappointment from this place.
Note: We’d like to say thank you to Vivian and House of Delight team for the invite.
