Pezzo pocket pizza tucked in the small and busy Flinders Lane ,at the top end of Flinders Lane between Exhibition and Russell streets where saturated with many other restaurants and bars.
Grossi family’s introduced the pocket pizza to Melbourne which is very popular street foods in Italy.
Pezzo is simply meaning ‘piece’ in Italian word and made using the traditional Italian pizza dough recipe fermented naturally for 48 hours.
The pizza is not stretched out like regular pizza dough – instead it’s baked into a round bun, cut with scissors only, into pockets,
then filled with classic Italian flavours.
We’re delighted to be invited for the Pezzo experience.
The interior design was modern, clean, bright and using a minimalist style.
The customer service was friendly and nice.
The vibe and atmosphere were cosy and comfortable.
As soon as we arrived, we’re welcomed by the friendly customer staffs.
– Bolognese Arancini
The Arancini was perfectly deep fried and not oily.
It was served warm and crunchy from outside, from the inside it was soft, creamy and cheesy.
The taste was very rich and balance.
We really enjoyed this starter dish and surely will recommend this dish!
– Tomato & Basil Panzanella
The salad had nice presentation served with fresh tomato and sprinkled with crouton on top of the salad.
The crouton was absolutely stunning and still crunchy though it was drizzled with balsamic oil.
The tomatoes served were fresh, sweet and had great quality.
They managed to mix and match the color of all ingredients and make it very appealing.
Not only the presentation wise, the taste was very balance, rich and flavourful.
Everything just perfectly executed, it’s a light and great dish for a starter!
Pizza Pocket – “pezzo” (pronounced “petts-o”)
– The Original (Meatballs, Tomato, Provolone)
The original is one of the most favourites dish in Pezzo.
The homemade bread had a soft texture and very fluffy.
The meatballs were perfectly made, cooked and well seasoned.
The texture of meatball was soft. It was juicy, moist and not dry.
The tomato sauce used as a base sauce of the original wasn’t too much, it was just right.
The overall taste was rich but not overwhelming, thus you could enjoy having each bite of this one without struggling to finish it off.
– Shepherd (Lamb Shoulder, Rosemary Potatoes, Parsley, Onion)
The lamb shoulder was perfectly cooked, it had soft texture.
The lamb was juicy, tender and well seasoned.
If you’re lamb lover and feel hungry, this one was the perfect one for you as it was very generous.
Not everyone could eat lamb because of the strong smell, however Pezzo is able to reduce the strong smell of the lamb.
The home made sauce used was the great companion of the combination between rosemary potatoes, lamb shoulder, parsley and onion,
all of them complemented each other and brought a delicate and rich taste.
– No.5 (Calamari, Zucchini, White Sauce)
The bread had a consistent taste, soft and fluffy.
Calamari was perfectly deep fried, it was very crunchy and crispy when served.
The calamari had soft texture; It was also soft and tender from the inside.
It had balance taste and well seasoned (not too salty).
No fishy smell on the Calamari, fantastic!
Honestly, everything would be much better if the white sauce served little bit more inside the No.5.
Overall, we had great time to have Pezzo experiences 🙂 #happytummy
