Hiatus, Kew (Invited)

Hiatus cafe located in the busy High street closed to Kew Junction.
Perfectly situated with the easy access using public transport and private vehicles.
They offer healthy option of the brunch dishes with reasonable price (nothing is over $20.00), unique dishes and great quality; thus you might not see mainstream brunch dishes such as, big breakfast or other meaty dishes.
This doesn’t mean that they’ve neglected the meat lovers, they do serve meaty dish in the limited options.
The idea makes Hiatus stand out among other brunch cafes.

We’re delighted to be invited by Hiatus team to have food experiences.
As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by Hannah who was working on that day.
The cafe was bright, clean, quite spacious and comfortable with modern interior design.
It’s perfect spot for small/big group and no issues for family with prams.
The customer service was nice and friendly.

While I was looking at their brunch menu, I ordered a cup of cappuccino.
It was great cappuccino with the nice artwork using the froth.
The coffee came really fast served warm with the slight bitterness and balance taste created the flavoursome character of the good coffee.

For the main dish, I picked Corn & Crab.
It’s the crab omelette with chilli ketchup and served with grilled baby corn and leeks.
The Corn & Crab was nicely presented and the taste was absolutely fantastic.
It was really soft, tender and not overcooked.
The taste of the crab blended in perfectly inside the omelette.
The omelette was perfectly executed, not dry and well cooked with little bit of smokey nice flavour from grilled baby corn and leeks.
The puree was absolutely amazing with the light and spicy taste to balance out everything and added rich flavour of the dish.
It didn’t take much time for me to clean up the dish, it was outstanding dish and absolutely recommended!

I ordered the Grapefruit Cheesecake (Citrus, almond, tonka bean, fejioa, wild rocket) for the sweet dish.
It was nicely presented and sprinkled with slight bitterness of crunchy wild rocket.
The wild rocket had a balance taste of the sweetness of the tonka bean pannacotta.
The cheesecake had different texture from the usual cheesecake, it wasn’t too creamy but it still kept the perfect rich cheesecake flavour.
It was very soft and tender, meticulously executed and flawless.
So you won’t feel bloated to have this dessert after finishing your meal.
Overall, it was a perfect dessert, simply loved it.

Overall, it was amazing dish, great service and cosy place.
This place is definitely worth a visit if you are around or close to Kew – “HIATUS”.

Note: We’d like to say thank you to Abjar and The Woods of Windsor’s team for the invite.
