Piccolina Gelateria just opened the new flagship store in St Kilda on Acland Street just in time for Spring and Summer.
Following the successful branches in Collingwood and Hawthorn, the same commitment made by Piccolina Gelato to be 100% natural and every day the team behind Piccolina puree fresh fruit, roasts nuts and tempers quality chocolate to craft gelato from secret family recipes.
We’re glad to be invited in the grand opening of Piccolina Gelateria in Acland Street, St Kilda.
It was busy and packed when we arrived with the DJ’s playing inside the mini gelato shop; Wine, canapes and variety of finger foods were provided during the grand opening.
Honestly, we didn’t really bother with all the canapes cause we’re too busy and excited to decide which gelato flavors we’re going to order from the options written on the wall.
They offer variety of gelato such as, coconut, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, white chocolate, honey comb, mint, better than nutella, stracciatella, salted caramel and pistacchio.
If you’re after something more fresh, they do have Vegan Sorbet options such as, strawberry, passion fruit, lemon and dark chocolate.
Additional special gelato menu written next to the cake cabinet; Ohhh worth to mention that they also sell ready cake which looked really appealing.
The customer service was nice, friendly and cheerful.
Though the gelato shop isn’t too spacious, you can still hang out with your friends in the long bar table attached to the wall in front of the gelato bar.
The vibe and atmosphere of the shop were cosy, cheerful, fun and colorful.
Firstly, we ordered:
1. Salted Caramel and Hazelnut *cone.
For us the salted caramel and hazelnut were a perfect combination. It’s mixed perfectly between sweet and savory.
The gelato itself was very smooth, soft and had really nice texture.
It was also creamy and generously served in the ice cream cone.
2. *Special* Raspberry and Honey Comb *cone.
We’re attracted to their special vegan sorbet offered on that day “Raspberry” combined with the honey comb gelato.
The raspberry gelato was stunning, it was really fresh and smooth.
The honey comb gelato wasn’t too sweet either which was really good!
The texture was soft, creamy and smooth.
Finally, just before we left the grand opening party, we ordered Better Than Nutella and Coffee in the small cup because we’re so curious to try this one.
The better and nutella was slightly too sweet for us and perfect if you’re a sweet lover.
We prefer to have the gelato with less sweet because we rarely have gelato before our meals, surely we’ll be struggling if we have Better Than Nutella gelato after our meal.
The coffee gelato was delicious and the coffee didn’t taste too strong.
The bitter and sweet taste of this gelato were balanced out evenly.
Overall, we had a great time in their grand opening party and we’re confident that the local and neighborhood will love this high quality and great gelato.
