Mc Dumpling nestled in the busy street of Footscray area surrounded by other Asian restaurants and markets.
A simple and humble restaurant, no-fuss and pretty straightforward eating place where you can enjoy delicious dumplings and cook to order Chinese meals with great value.
The restaurant set up is like a diner but with touch of Chinese and Asian heritage here and there.
Apparent from its name, Mc Dumpling or My Chinese Dumpling’s (well you can also call it McD I supposed) specialty is their dumplings.
The dumplings come in steamed, pan fried or soup version – that come with different protein such as chicken and pork or even no meat at all 🙂
All kinds of dumplings for all 🙂
My personal favourite is always the pan-fried one.
The classic pork and chives pan-fried dumplings.
They also have the chicken and prawn ones.
It has to be juicy and watery from the meats resulting a flavorsome broth that gives the contrast in the texture as you bite the dumplings.
And these dumplings have it. The skin also not too thick and doughy perfectly made. Once again a simple dish done right. Definitely the star of the night.
They have various on rice menu and we always have soft spot for fried chicken ribs especially the one with five spice :p Simple, no fuss dish – simply crispy
on the outside and well seasoned ribs with flavorsome seasonings such as garlic, capsicum and shallots. Definitely a great value meal.
We tried their Beef with black pepper sauce with generous vegetables inside as well. The beef was beautifully cooked. Soft and tender with deeply absorbing seasoning.
Definitely will go well with rice.
We also Shanghai style fried noodle with pork and vegetables. This noodle style is a soupy kind of noodle with thick sauce and generous amount of veggies and pork.
The noodle was a bit overcooked for our preference and a tad under-seasoned and a bit more to the sweeter side rather than savoury.
Don’t forget to try their freshly steamed custard bun as well – not overly sweet and the texture is just so smooth inside.
Just nice to be paired with their homemade soy milk. I always have a soft spot for homemade milk especially if it is not too sweet.
Overall, we had a good dining experience. The service is quick and waitress was so friendly although she was the only floor staff on that night.
They seemed to be very popular in Deliveroo and Ubereats or simply the locals who dropped by to takeaway and it’s no surprise at all.
Note: We’d like to say thank you to MC Dumpling’s team for having us.
