Zanini Pizzeria recently opened a sister restaurant in the busy Inkerman Street, St Kilda East.
This restaurant brings new color of Italian cuisine to the local/neighborhood by offering authentic pizzas, pastas, sides and desserts.
We’re glad to be invited by Zanini’s team to have dining experience.
We visited Zanini around dinner time on the weekend, it was busy and fully booked;
Luckily, we’ve reserved a table for us; You wouldn’t believe how many take-away orders went since we came.
Upon our arrival to Zanini, we’re given warm welcomed by the friendly customer staff.
The restaurant fitting was great, typical modern Italian restaurant with traditional wood fired pizza oven and open space kitchen.
The restaurant was quite spacious. You have the option to choose your seating close to bar section, bench seating open kitchen section where
you can see all the chef’s actions while preparing the dish or slightly more quiet/intimate section inside for group/family seating.
The customer staffs were friendly, attentive and helpful.
The vibe and atmosphere were cosy and comfortable.
We ordered Capuccino and Zuegg Juice – blood orange while we’re deciding the dishes.
– Arancini (2 pieces)
Southern Italian rice balls filled with ragu and mozzarella.
Arancini was generously served; We reckon it was the biggest arancini size we’ve ever had.
The arancini was perfectly fried; It was crispy from the outside, inside was perfectly cooked.
The taste of arancini was spot on!
We thought that the proportion between the rice and protein weren’t too balance as We hardly tasted the ragu inside the arancini, but it was still delicious and a great starter dish!
– Truffle Polenta Chips
Truffle and rosemary polenta chips served with mayo.
Big chunks of polenta chips served, they were perfectly made and fried.
The taste was balance and rich mixed perfectly with the infused truffle oil;
The outer layer was crispy, unfortunately inside was too soft and slightly wet!
– Rigatoni Al Ragu Di Agnello
Rigatoni pasta with slow cooked lamb ragu finished with pecorino romano.
It was served fresh, thick and al dente of homemade Rigatoni pasta.
Tomato base wasn’t too strong and added extra sourly flavour on the dish.
The ragu was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and had balance taste.
It was also tender, soft and juicy; Every component incorporated and complimented each other to enrich the overall taste.
It’s a simple dish but well executed and finished in perfection.
– Re Di Napoli
Fior di latte, Italian sausage, San Daniele prosciutto and soppressata.
Their pizza was just absolutely stunning; It was cooked using a traditional Italian wood-fired oven.
You would definitely enjoy their pizza dough, honestly you can’t go wrong with their pizza!
Everything was generously served, balance taste and had rich flavour.
– Panna Cotta
Between Tiramisu and Panna Cotta, The winner was tiramisu!
We loved every scoop of this Tiramisu, it wasn’t too sweet and very chocolaty!
It’s definitely a recommended dessert for you to try!
Overall, Zanini is a great place to visit if you’re around St Kilda East as they’re offering great traditional Italian Pizza,
plenty selection of pasta dishes. “Think local, eat Italian!”
Note: We’d like to say thank you to Zanini Pizza’s team for having us.
