Miss Korea Kitchen 288 is located in 288 Whitehorse Road Nunawading; Here at this branch, they only offer buffet “All You Can Eat” Korean food;
If you prefer to have a-la-carte, you might need to go to Miss Korea Kitchen in Camberwell.
We’re glad to be invited by Miss Korea Kitchen 288 team to experience their food.
We came on the weekend, it was absolutely packed and very busy.
Though we’ve already made the booking, I reckon they didn’t put us on the list. That’s not a big deal for us cause we totally understand we came on the weekend and it was super busy; We’d really appreciate the front staff as he managed to look after us pretty quickly.
The restaurant was quite spacious, this place surely able to cater small/big group of friends or family.
The customer staffs were very attentive to clean and take away the dirty plates on the table.
Speaking of that, you might find a challenge to ask for their assistance if you need something, so you need to help yourself;
We’re thrilled and keen to find out what you can get for a Korean Buffet that offers a fantastic deal $19.80 per person for adult (* Children under the age of 4 eat free ** Children between 4-10: $12.00).
What a great deal to have buffet!
Honestly, this restaurant is perfect as a “go to” place if you want to run any private event (birthday celebration or others) with limited budget; You would know exactly how much you will spend.
Let’s find out!
At first, we’re bit confused as they offer an array of food selections. They’re just scatter around.
After walking around for couple times, we can describe the area into several sections:
1. Fried/Hot food (close to the kitchen bar) : Fried Chicken, Fried Gyoza & French Fries.
The fried chicken was fresh coming from the fryer; It was always crispy and crunchy every time we came on this section. The chicken was tender, soft and wasn’t greasy.
It was well seasoned, the taste was amazing similar to other popular Korean restaurant specialising in Fried Chicken. ***highlight on this section***
Unfortunately the Fried Gyoza & French Fries were Meeehhhh. It was under seasoned and the french fries were always soggy and greasy.
2. Pizza bar & Teriyaki Chicken area.
The Teriyaki chicken was also yummy, but it was quite spicy; The taste was balance and well seasoned.
Also, the portion of seafood (squid) inside this Teriyaki chicken was served generously.
It’s interesting approach to combine squid and chicken in the Teriyaki chicken dish, actually it’s working pretty well.
3. Dessert & Ice cream area (Choco Vanilla, Raspberry, Lemonade, Cola)
The dessert section was also Meeeehhh; They served the frozen cake but the taste like a typical premade frozen cake where you buy in Woolies / Coles.
4. Stir fried area (Beef Bulgogi, Stir Fried Tofu, Stir Fried Mushroom with Vege, Spicy Seafood and Pork Stew, Soy Garlic Chicken)
From our opinion, this was the best section that you would come or target LOL;
It wasn’t very outstanding, but everything was still decent.
All stir-fried dishes were cooked well and seasoned properly, especially the Soy Garlic Chicken, Beef Bulgogi and Stir Fried Tofu.
It was absolutely a superb deal to enjoy all-you-can-eat for only $19.80, just by having all their stir-fried dishes.
5. Soup area (Kimchi soup, Seaweed soup)
The Kimchi & Seaweed soup were alright!
6. Long Table
– Salad Bar
– Sushi & Smoked Salmon
– Banchan (various)
– Sweet Potato Noodle, Jajangmyeon/Soy Bean Noodle, Spicy Ricecake with fish cake, pancake
We’re quite disappointed with the salad bar, Sushi & Smoked Salmon, pancake and Banchan (various).
The pancake was tasteless, under-seasoned and dry.
Salad bar wasn’t fresh and sushi was dry; From our opinion, it’s better not to serve sushi at all if that’s not your specialty.
Sweet Potato Noodle, Jajangmyeon/Soy Bean Noodle, Spicy Ricecake with fish cake were okay; They weren’t the best but still not bad.
To summarise our food trip, we reckon this place is good if you have limited budget (*$19.80?? come on! who can beat this price?)
to invite big group of friends or family cause they have the various options to choose many different dishes.
However, if you prefer quality over quantity of the food; I wouldn’t recommend you to come to this place.
*** Table booking is recommended especially on the weekend ***
Note: We’d like to say thank you to Miss Korea Kitchen’s team for having us.
