Sardi Cafe (Hawthorn)

Sardi Cafe (Hawthorn)

You can see a couple dancing and jumping accompanying by other cartoon characters inside our mind If you can probe what’s happening when we won the brunch raffle or competition.
We won again!! Yuuueayyyyy… We’re so happy and for some reasons that day was brighter and shinier comparing to other days after knowing that we won a competition run by fo0die (2 dishes + 2 drinks at Sardi Cafe).

It’s been 2 months since we won this competition (around August 2019) and we haven’t got a chance to redeem our prize cause we caught up with many things on the weekend.
Finally, we got a chance to visit Sardi Cafe last weekend after attending from our mate’s wedding not too far from Hawthorn.

Sardi cafe is located slightly away from the hustle bustle and hype of the main street, Hawthorn; However, it’s still conveniently situated just in front of the tram line. You don’t need to worry about how to get here because it’s easily accessible by both public transport and private vehicle.

This cute cafe has a tagline “Melbourne Brunch Classic”, here they’re offering classic brunch menu where you often find in other places.
What makes them stand out?
The menu has a great range of healthy, vegan and gluten free options using seasonal produce, our chefs make every dish from scratch, the coffee is roasted locally and the staff have become like family members to the Hawthorn café crowd.

We ordered cappuccino and Cacao Kicker (Banana, cacao, peanut butter, rice malt syrup, goji berries, almond milk).
Coffee was great, it’s enough to give you a kick and start your engine in the morning! No complain and kind of what we’re expected from this reputable cafe.

You MUST order their Cacao Kicker which is one of their signature drinks. It wasn’t too strong.
Each of the components blended in perfectly, wasn’t too sweet either and not heavy!
It’s a Vegan Smoothies!!
We often couldn’t finish the smoothies cause it’s too heavy but we finished this off before we leave this cafe.

For the main dishes, we had:

  • Eggs Benedict
Poached eggs & sauteed spinach on pork croquettes with apple cider hollandaise, pickled apple.
The dish was generously served, the croquettes were greatly filled with pulled pork (texture was soft).
Don’t get us wrong! It was a great dish, but it wasn’t the best Eggs Benedict we’ve ever tried.
  • Brownie Waffles
With cotton candy, raspberry compote, chocolate sauce, crumble, vegan ice cream, fresh fruits.
It’s our first experience to try Brownie Waffles, we have never seen the similar dish like this in other places.
It was beautifully platting and very colorful served with fresh fruits and crumbled on the side. On top of the dish, you’ll find vegan ice cream and pink cotton candy.
What an appealing dish!I couldn’t stand waiting Miss Epi to take the photo, I was waiting for her till she felt satisfied with the photo and quickly scooped it. In fact, I stole the corner piece of this waffle … YUMMY!
The taste matched the appearance. The waffle was perfectly cooked, inside you would find hidden surprise of walnut pieces.
The overall taste wasn’t too sweet and it wasn’t too overwhelming.
Everything was spot on and meticulously executed.

Finally, we’d like to say BIG thanks to fo0die and Sardi Cafe for having us; We had a great time here and would love to visit again to have their Brownie Waffles.
