A new restaurant just opened by the man behind Okra, we came with expectations of yummy foods and we sure were not wrong. O’Wok offers delicious Sichuan-influenced cuisine and of course Chinese influenced dumplings. Located in the main Burke Road this place sure would not be missed.
We of course should try their Pan Fried Pork and Cabbage Dumplings. Their pan fried dumplings smell amazing and taste yummy too. Their dumplings are homemade from scratch everyday. The dumpling wrap however felt a bit undercooked but the meat are juicy hence lacking of moisturised looking dumplings. We enjoyed it while sipping our Sour and Spicy Soup – simple sour soup not too thick and simply nice to be enjoyed with dumplings.
Salt and Pepper Chicken Ribs is one of our always ordered menu in a Chinese restaurant. The chicken ribs are juicy and well seasoned. Love the hint of spiciness from the fresh chilli and love the seasoning of this chicken ribs. If you don’t like something too spicy, this would be for you. But just be careful not to bite the fresh chilli :p
Sauteed Diced Chicken with Chilli Pepper is definitely the must order in a Sichuan influenced restaurant. The chicken pieces were fried together with Sichuan peppers and dried chilis. Amazing fragrance and seasoned right. Love this dish! Definitely must try especially if you are eating in a group.
Finally, we need to order something soupy too to balance the all fried and chilli dishes rite? Fish Fillets with Sichuan Pickles is our choice. The basa fish were cooked beautifully together with Sichuan pickles and some dried chili. Taste mildly sour and light although you can see it looks a bit oily but it does not taste oily with just a hint of spiciness. Amazing dish to be enjoyed over a warm bowl of white rice (white rice I love you).
Finally the banana fritters with vanilla ice cream. Omg that inconspicuous looking banana fritters was amazing. It was beautifully fried and yummy then drizzled with honey 🙂
Our visit was indeed amazing. We are sooo spoilt with all the good foods and finally we need to finish by drinking Oolong tea. Well our parents at least believe that you need to drink warm tea after eating spicy and oily foods to help our bodies to digest the food. Service was prompt and quick. Parking is easy too and tram is very nearby. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Note: We’d like to say thank you to O’Wok Shop’s team for having us.
