Oscar’s is located along Toorak Road, just 3mins walk from the South Yarra Station. You cannot miss the baby blue sign when you passed along that street. The store is located between Guzman and Lord of the Fries. They have pretty spacious seating inside on the second floor and outdoors seating too along the Toorak Road.
We shared Steak sandwiches, Beetroot Fritters and Chocolate Waffles for our brunch. We quench our thirst by ordering Green Juice and Mango Smoothie. Simple and refreshing for a sunny day.
Steak sandwiches served on multigrain with fried sunny side up egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, BBQ Sauce, onion jam, Swiss Cheese and generous amount of chips. The steak was thinly cut and was a bit overcooked for me. The sauce was great and created a nice balance for the sandwich.
Beetroot & sweet potato quinoa fritter with tendril, pickled fennel, cured salmon salad, beetroot sour cream, poached egg. Very interesting fritter and smooth potato croquette like texture fritters. The fritters had perfect crispiness albeit the outer looking a bit dark. The presentation looks a bit messy in our opinion, it would be nice if the beetroot sourcream has a bit more bold color or you can use a diff color of plate to highlight the contrast of the sauce beautifully. But overall this is a very enjoyable dish.
Chocolate waffle was amazing too! The texture of the waffle is soft and tender drizzled with nutella, strawberries and paired with mango sorbet. The mango sorbet was full of the mango goodness taste but sadly it did not go too well with the chocolate nutella.
Overall I had a lovely experience at Oscar’s and I recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area. I give them 3.5/ 5. Thanks very much for having us.
Note: We’d like to say thank you to Oscar’s team for having us.
