Gaylord is a fine dining Indian restaurant located inside Grand Hotel, Spencer and this restaurant is carefully crafted by Raj, DJ and Chef Suren.
They aim to combine notions and perceptions of the sophisticated Melbourne about Indian food and refine the traditional Indian home kitchen into the top class 5 star dishes.
We’re glad to be invited to a 5 course meal by Raj and DJ.
No doubt, location is absolutely star. In the heart of CBD, it’s very convenient and easily accessible by public transport (tram and train). This fine dining Indian restaurant is very versatile and perfect spot for your to organise small function or any private event.
Our food journey started with their Pani Puri, typical indian entree that you would enjoy as the spicy tangy sauce refreshed your palate.
You would be the most familiar with the next dish if you haven’t tried any Indian food, it is Peppercorn Chicken Tikka. It looked so appealing, however it’s very unfortunate that the taste wasn’t alike as the taste. Don’t get us wrong, it’s good but we’ve tried better Chicken Tikka somewhere else.
What we most enjoyed among the foods are the sauces of each mains. The spices just enough to kick the right flavour, not too strong that everyone would enjoy them and not too weak that you wouldn’t consider this as indian food.
Lastly, we ended our night with the dessert. To be honest, wasn’t looking forward to the dessert as the description wasn’t appealing. However, it did surprise me with the burnt butter smell and the sweet taste that I forgot it was a carrot pudding. Overall, it was a decent Indian restaurant.
Note: We’d like to say thank you to Gaylord’s team, DJ & Raj for having us.
